About Us

The Association of New Jersey Chinese School Youth Chinese Orchestra (ANJCSYCO), is a non-profit, parent-run youth orchestra founded in 2003, under the leadership of our Music Director and Conductor, Mr. Chien-Kuo Wei. Our orchestra is composed around 30 young musicians, aged from 8-18, and come mostly from central New Jersey. Students are required to enroll in one-on-one lessons from five of our experienced teachers, and attend bi-weekly ensemble practice through out the year. 

We are a certified organization in the Presidential Volunteering Service Award program. Our musicians are encouraged to participate in community performances in places such as hospitals, senior centers, cultural festivals and events.

Our mission is to provide a platform to bring young people together to learn and play a wide repertoire of music by using traditional Chinese instruments. Through music, we inspire our students to connect with their heritages and instill values of cultural diversity, mutual respect, self-discipline, and community service.

新澤西中文學校協會青少年國樂團是一個獨特的音樂團體，我們帶領我們的青少年團員藉由演奏傳統國樂樂器來探索融合中西音樂。透過音樂，我們的青少年音樂家們學習了多元文化，互助合作，個人的時間管理，和藉由音樂演奏來參與社區服務。

Conserving Culture and Promoting Diversity
We are a unique orchestra.  We use traditional Chinese music as a platform to enable our young musician to creatively integrate East-West music.

Serve Our Community
We value the community we live in. We actively performing in senior centers, schools,  public libraries, hosptials and other local venues.
